Finally Broke The Barrier!!!

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Yes, the diving club spend ages getting ready so i get the whole pool to myself for about 20mins!! I train in a smaller pool next to it for an hour and have that to myself too. I guess i'm lucky to have a good training facility!

I'm taking a full week off training now which i should of done last week my chest infection has got worse, off to the doctors tomorrow. My doctor always moans at me "what you hold your breath for how long, and come to me moaning about your chest"!!! "stop smoking and stop with all this breath holding"!!! MOAN MOAN MOAN!

Thanks sayNO2o2...

Contractions, what are they????? I've set a 5:10 pb and never experienced them, oh well..........

Okay enough of the smart arsed comments now.

Congrats on the 6min time. I aspire to push my static out that far. In order to achieve that I need to start some real training and start pushing myself properly.

Tonight for the first time I swam with some guys I've met at my local dive club. It's much easier for me to relax and focas on what I'm doing when I have confidence that my buddy on the surface has got my back. I only managed a 100m swim tonight, but it felt reasonably easy.

Keep pushing out those distances and times, look forward to you all posting some more results.

Now let's see if I were to improve 2m per training session, Dave Mullins has a world record of 248, 248 minus 100 equals.......

Cheers flying spanner! (strange name, where does it come from?) My dynamic isn't great so i need to concentrate on them now, my aim is to get upto 150mtr - 160mtr which i would be very happy with. I'm training tonight but still have a bit of a chest infection (antibiotics not kicked in yet)

Any tips on tolerating contractions in dynamic? i usually feel them around 75mtrs and seem to be uncomfortable with dealing with them as i go up to 100mtrs. I know i have 125mtrs in me.

Tips please...

I assume you have heard of a flying doctor, well I'm a trainee aircraft engineer and also a qualified pilot so hence flying spanner.

Dunno, as I said I've never experienced any contractions to speak of in my year of freediving so far. I'm one of the lucky few I guess.....

i have trained with one guy that did not get contractions. he could just keep swimming and swimming! then blacked out.

give me contractions anyday;)

they dont seem too bad in dynamic. i dont do any warm up so i get them fast but they dont seem to bother me like in static.
