My old socks are well ragged so I bought a cheap pair of 'croc' type sandals from Sainsbury's at £7, not yet used them, but they should stop me holing my new socks walking along the gravelly/stoney paths & offer some cushioning from the odd "small pointy stones" that poke me in the heel or ball of the foot. i use crocks too - hopeless when i dont take a float because i attach them to my belt on a bit of bungee. I cant see them when i dive, but figured they might be a little 'obvious' [bobbing around beside me] so i took a picture to see how they show up:

or maybe just get into the weed more...
I quite like Bros's idea...

I am not sure there has ever been a case that I have been without my float, except for a boat dive where it has always been about 25m away.
Anyway I think you are missing a trick there, what you need to do is draw a smiley mouth and some eyes on you crocs & the fishies will come in to investigate, why not go one better & buy some sparkly stickers/diamontes & bling them up & maybe it will look like those flashers I hear about in the more exotic areas.
Also worth noting that if you get cold feet in 3mm socks, don't be tempted to put another set of 3mm socks over the top. I did this and found my feet got even colder, as there is a layer of water trapped between the two socks that cannot be warmed up (via body heat) so they remain cold. If this is the case you are best off just buying a set off 5mm socks.
Fair comment. I always thaught wetsuits let a small amount of water through and traps it, then the body heat warms the water. Keeping you warm. So then I presumed this was the same with socks. Hence why two pairs of socks would be colder as the secondary layer of water would cool down the layer between your body and the first pair of socks.
Do you know I am not sure if this is the case anymore?
Certainly this is how some suits work but, most of my recent MTM suits dont seem to really let in any water at all - not as though that has anything to do with socks that do let in water![]()
