fins upgrade

hi gents

Ive been using cressi gaara 3000LD fins for some time now and always dive from the shore. its still fine taking me down to 20m in this warm water.

I want to upgrade to a a pair of fiberglass or carbon fins with what i presume is a medium stiffness. I want to go deeper with more ease if you catch my drift. aiming between 20ties and 30meters. I do a lot of surface swim work so thats probably a big factor.

I cant afford those C4 prices..... thats why I am considering fiberglass fins of i cant find a carbon fin. Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated.

my first fins was carbon fin. I used it 6 times before I gave one up to the ocean. Since then I borrowed plastic fins from friends and shops even one side scuba fin, one side carbon. I can confirm that carbon fins has very little to do with going deep, although I can image going down 60m+, plastic fins or even carbon might be a bit rough. So to me, the right upgrade from plastic fins is definitely a good mono. Stick with your plastic until you really need to upgrade.

I am in a very similar position. Currently have Cressi Gara modular with the plastic blades they came with. I wanted to just upgrade to carbon blades but since trying Pathos foot pockets I have decided to get these. The cressi are a bit narrow for my foot and hurt after wearing for a while. I am unsure of what carbon blades to get so will monitor this thread...

I get what you are saying Kray. to go deeper probably lies within my fitness levels not the fins i use..... to some extent.... but they are a bit soft especially in this hot bath tub water and I use long strong kicks so im losing distance and im using more energy to get where i want to be. not an expert in this so it might sound stupid.

ruggaboy Im currently looking at leaderfins and reading up about them thanx. how do you find them for surface swiming?

They r quite good on surface but not superior to plastic ones...true advantage of carbon fins u'll find on ur way back up from depth.
