finswimming in London?

Does anyone know of a finswimming club in or near London? I'd like to give it a try.

There used to be some guys that met on a Thursday night at Richmond pool, for dynamic and static training. Try the BFA website

I sometimes go to the Richmond pool club already. I looked for finswimming, not freediving, but the nearest was in Kent, which is too far.

Hi Lucia

Alaric Smith is the national finswimming coach. I used to train with him in Swansea but I think he now lives in Tonbridge. I have PMd you his email and phone number. I don't think there is anyone training for finswimming in London but he would know.

Good luck! It is very tough training but excellent for your monofin technique. I swear I had no idea how to fin properly until I trained with the finswimmers and after two evenings with them I had it sussed....

I need to improve my monofin technique, and also to keep fit, so I should give it a try.

Hi - There is also a group of freedivers meet at Crystal Palace on Wednesdays where you can practice. I too went in search of finswimmers after splashing about with my monofin (Alerics brother Jason Smith trains at Southampton). I learnt so much - and they were very patient with me and showed me how to do it properly - still lots to learn and practice though - it wont come overnight and you need to work at it. 2 hour training sessions very tiring but worthwhile - feel like a rocket going through the water when you get it right. Nothing like it for the 'abs' either.
