First hunt

I went off Dania Beach 5/31 in a Kayak that I've been rigging. The visibility was poor, maybe 15, 20 feet. So I used an Aspetto technique and snagged what seemed to be a 12 inch black margate. I cooked it the same day. The current started to get fast, so I quit while I was ahead. Other than a boater who almost ran me over, (I saw the propeller 10 feet away from me as I was surfacing) it all went smoothly.

Not bad for a first time. Be carefull with boats in that area. This time of the year is crazy.

Thank you. Definitely more worried about humans than sharks now. I'll go back for sure once the weather clears up.

Congrats on your first hunt, good fish you got. As for boats - in the future, pay particular attention to where most boating traffic is. Sometimes you can figure out the pattern and stay practically in the same spot but away from danger. Get a buoy with flag. Good hunting!

Thank you. I'll try that next time. As far as the flag, I not only had a 20x24 stiff flag, but the fucker almost ran over my kayak too.
