Hello,

For a long time I wanted to build a wooden speargun.

Due to covid 19's disease, I had plenty of free time.

I found it recommended to use teak wood.

There are recommendations for a building plan or guidelines?.

Which tools should I buy to get the job done?

I don't want to spend a lot of money on tools.

Thanks

Here is a simple plan to make a basic gun.

Tools are a wood saw, power drill, assorted drills, files including a dreadnought file, sand paper, bench vice, screwdrivers and some clamps when gluing pieces together. Files should include a rat tail file if you do not have a router. In order to drill holes square to the job a drill press is handy, but not absolutely necessary if you are careful in lining things up. Paint brush for coating the gun after everything is rubbed smooth. You can buy the timber to size and just work on it with the saw and dreadnought file which has coarse crescent shaped teeth for working on wood. Sand paper can be used with a rubbing block so that you sand flat.

If you use wishbone slots shafts then consider a closed muzzle as such guns are a cinch to load.

This gun is of similar construction, but made without these plans as it pre-dates them. The plans appeared in IFDSN magazine some years ago.

A dreadnought file https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/9029580922. You need a wooden handle for the files so that you can push them, the tang on the file jams into the handle and can be switched for different files.
