Well done Bobdonny!

Is that the end of the FoM comps now? has winter really arrived already?

how about a 'Biggest Scallop' competition from now until whenever FOM starts again, just for fun... :)

Re: Fish of the month discussion thread 2010

One point in it, wish I'd saved my vote 'till the end now.
Not saying which one I voted for but a certain entry has won already this year. ;)

Re: Fish of the month discussion thread 2010

Well done Bob, bad luck Jonny.

Interesting that a potential 7lb+ mullet is favoured by a 6lb bass but not really surprising!

I think that was the last trophy made by OMD however there is a very nice trophy for the fish of the year that has also been hand made by another member also called Dave!

Re: Fish of the month discussion thread 2010

Thanks guys, unlucky Johnny... You had a fine fish and you should have won a few times over for your sole, turbot and plaice ;)
Can't give ya any more rep etc... gotta spread the love ;)

Would be interesting to hear how other people made up their mind on this one - what criteria? I based my vote on the skill of the shot, although I guess the whole hunt and stalk should be taken in to account.
I got hold of a copy of "Last of the blue water hunters" off Amazon after reading about ti on the forum, and would recommend it to anyone.

I try to think what I would do if they were all in a line and I only had one spear, which would I go for!

So I choose the pollock as the bass would be a large breeder and I'd feel guilty... No doubt a fine fish... but still a little guilty.
The sole or lobster would be a second place for me.
The garfish makes a great record specimen, but I don't see the garfish feeding my family.
Unfortunately Dafyddrees's pollock and my bass hardly enter the equation.

The 11lb bass should easily win it in my humble opinion. There was a huge upset last year when that massive Irish bass ended up losing in August(?) when 2-3 great fish came out. I still do not believe Tecdaves pollock (Eventual FoY winner) could have beaten it in a head to head if that bass made it through to the FoY...

Only one day left.
I can't believe we have just 36 votes, come on guys get off your fat lazy asses and cast a vote.
I think Aussie voting rules should apply.
The clever boffins here at db have developed a button that can destroy the PC of any db member, we were going to save it for Apnea boy, but any db spearos from the UK, Channel Islands or Ireland not voting will wake on Wednesday morning to a smoking pile of ashes where their PC used to be.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! SO GET VOTING.
