Looks like the latest hurricane is going to produce some very good surf on the Florida east coast starting thursday or friday. Anybody interested in getting together for a day of body surfing somewhere around Melbourne? I expect to be there on Saturday.

Florida Freedivers

Connor,

I am also excited about doing some body surfing. I live in West Palm, so we will not probably get the waves you get in Melbourne. I will probably be heading north on Saturday, up towards your neck of the woods. My phone number is 772.321.8590.

Also, I am looking for someone in the area to go freediving with. You know anybody in West Palm area that hsa been training?

Michael.

Blue Hole

Hey guys, check this picture out of Ichetucknee Blue Hole - one of my favorite places to dive around Gainesville. Thanks to Jeff Richardson for pointing out the URL and John Moran's gallery. [too bad the pic isn't of a freediver . . . wouldn't have those obnoxious bubbles cluttering the photo].

You aren't kiddin. That photo would be sooooo sweet if taken of a freediver. All that tech gear ruins the moment, IMNSHO. Looks like a robot.

Have fun surfin, Connor. Next weekend, I'll be surfin the hills of northern wisconsin. Unlike the poor northeast, we have had a relatively nice winter. Temps pretty steady in the 20's, ice is thick, and we've had a couple nice dumps of powder recently.

You ever hit any of those manatee springs? That's some of the funnest divin I ever did done in my natrual born life.

Ted :D

Boer Zhao posted links to some cool Florida Springs freediving shots on EastCoastFreediver.

Here are some nice freediving shots of Devil's Den:

Hi Ted,

Manatees are fun, but it is a bit disconcerting if you are not watching close and one you didn't see tries to gum your toes. I see them every few days in summer (I work around the water) and dive with them infrequently.

Surf around here isn't near as high as your hills, but hurricanes like Isabel can pump out 10 ft plus if we are lucky. When it is realy good it almost beats diving.

Good luck on the slopes.
