Hi all,

Your help on footpocket sizing would really be appreciated. I wear Cressi's, size 10-11, european, 44-45, I am planning to order some specialfin blades but don't have local access to Sporasub or Omer footpockets. Mail order is the only option. What size Sporasub or Omer foot pockets will be equal to my
Cressi's? I wear them barefoot if that makes any difference.

Thanks

Connor

Hey Conner,

I'm a much smaller fella than you :)ko), but I do have Gara, Sporasub, and Omer 'experience', so my info may be of use.

Most of my shoes are size 7.5 US. My Gara's were size 40-41 (7-8). I could comfortably wear these fins with a lycra sock, or I could squeeze a 3mm into em. A 5mm was way too tight. The limiting factor was the width of the pockets; Cressis are more narrow than Omers and Sporas.

Sporas and Omer are comparable. I have used 40-42 (7-9) in both. In either, a lycra sock is a bit too loose. A 3mm slides in easily, and a 5mm fits snug, but comfortably.

In a nut shell, the Garas are always one half size smaller than Sporas and Omers. Gara sizes are 40-41, 42-43, etc....while Spora/Omers are 40-42, 42-44, etc.....just a bit larger.

If you wear a 44-45 Cressi, I would recommend the 44-46 Omer; especially since you wear the Cressis barefoot. My guess is that the next size smaller omer pocket 42-44 would be too tight. Finally, you're probably going to need a sock because Omer pockets are not as soft as Cressis, and they will require you to wear something to stave off the chaffing :blackeye. I'll bet that the 44-46, with a 3mm sock will be the winner.

Hi

I have shoesize 44 and my Cressi Freefrogs are 10-11 but for
Omer i will go with 42-44. My feets are 27,5 cm long.

After I have test some omer footpockets 42-44 & 44-46
I can tell that they are extemly wide and with no socks or 1,5 & 3mm socks size 42-44 fits without a problem.
44-46 is great only with 3mm & 5mm socks.

Becauce I will dive in Greece most of the time I need max 1,5 mm socks so for my is 42-44 great.

If your feet is not longer that 27 cm i think 42-44 is o.k.

The point is that Monofin fins MUST have a tight footpocket
otherwise your lose all your power.

Herbert Nitch has to size 44 but the Sebak monofin that he use
is 40-42!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

42-44 if you like using thin socks.
44-46 if you like using 5mm socks (I use them in all conditions).

These figures are for OMER pockets.
Compared to Cressi, OMER pockets are VERY wide.
Cressi's have good pockets if your foot is not too wide...mine is.

Oh...you plan to use them bare foot??? 42-44 is then the only option.
Please note that these pockets are much sturdier than Cressi's, so expect some chaffing before you get used to them.
Maybe use cotton socks first?

Hope this helps.
Safe dives,
Mikko

Connor,
My two cents is that if you want to wear them barefoot don't get Omer foot pockets. I was completely unsuccessful at breaking in the Omers for bare feet and had to order a larger size for use with socks. Specialfins’ price for Omers pockets is pretty good, better than I could find anywhere else. Jyri said in another post that if someone wanted Sporasub they could get those too, so I would check with them for their price.

Good point about the Spora pockets, Don. How did I forget to mention it  .

Conner, if you are happy with Cressi pockets, then going to Omers may be more of a change than you want. Sporas would be a much better bet for someone who likes a softer pocket. They still aren't as soft as cressis, but they are considerably softer than omers.

I don't know if you were following the older threads, but I was unhappy with the Omers that came with my Stereopros, so I mounted my sporas to em. Jyri said that Specialfins would be able to adapt to using Spora footpockets if that's what the people wanted. But just in case they aren't set up yet, here's how I did it. It's a snap. http://forums.deeperblue.net/showth...5&highlight=sporasub footpockets&pagenumber=4
