Free diving in Phuket, Thailand

I'm new to this site, looking forward to connecting with others.

I'm going to Thailand in late September, hoping to freedive with Manta Rays and Whale sharks. Im interested to know if anyone else has been there done that.

I'm not sure wht sort of wetsuit I'll need, where the best spots are etc, or if there is any oppotunities for spearing fish, I'd be grateful for any tips.

hi,

get yourself over to the surin islands (a boit north of similan). you can camp there and freedive during snorkel trips. no scuba diving there, few tourists (last i remember).

if you like more details let me know.

THanks for that Blueskunk, having had a bit of a look at distance etc, it might be a little out of the way for this trip from Phuket, some say it got a bit knocked around in the sunami, THanks anyway

hi,

true, if you are based in phuket you won´t go there for a snorkel trip. about the tsunami, sthe imilans are very close and just as affected by that disaster.
