free-immersion weighting and ascent/decent rates

are dive speeds and weighting typically different in free-immersion as opposed to c/w? if so, what are they. also, i'm just starting to experiment with packing for my dives and although inconclusive i seem to find it more benificial with free-immersion pulldowns than with c/w dives with monofin. anyone else find this? cheers
