Hello brothers...looking to get some advice. I finished a 3 day dive course, and although my static apnea was 4min I couldn't go past 40ft. After 3 good dives they would start to hurt so bad that I would stop right there. Also I would get to the bottom feeling out of air..I used valsalva and my breathups consisted on 10-15 breaths, emptying my lungs and stomach, then inhaling starting with my stomach then up...how can I improve this? Doing tables everyday and practicing in the pool 3 times a week should help right?

For dept the best advice is to allow your body to be confortable at ur actual limit dept. You will get this with time and going under water, going to the pool will help you but consider that for me the main factors to focus in depts are equalization try to learn the frenzel for me a lot better than valsalva and then go as more as you can under water and do dept this is the only way to let your body to adapt at the physiological cahnges that u have going underwater. Always remember to do training with an experienced buddy that will save ur ass in case of emergency.

Sounds like you have fairly restricted Eustachian tubes and are irritating them by straining to equalize. Same thing happens to my son. Solution will take some work and experimentation. First, learn frenzel, much less irritating and far more powerful. Second, find out if you have any allergies that are aggravating your irritated tubes. Eliminate the source of the allergy. Milk produces mucus in some divers (I don't care what the double blind studies say). Try some pseudafed, various anti-histamines, etc looking for a drug. If you find one that works, look deeper for the real cause. Finally, or maybe first, relax, take it easy and enjoy, it makes it easier. It may take a combination of all of these, but know that it is possible.

Out of breath at those depths is just relax and practice. Straining to equalize makes it worse. Fix the EQ, practice and this will not be an issue. Note: if your ears hurt, you are WAY past where you should be.
