Hi,

Can anyone recommend any books for someone that is new to Freediving, and where to get them from. Doesn't seem to be many about (have checked the usual places (Amazon etc) and can only find a couple), I would like something for beginners, so that I can do a bit of background reading . It is something that I want to get into.

Also are there any clubs near Ipswich, Suffolk that I can go along to?

Manual of Freediving by Umberto Pelizzari is the most comprehensive text available on freediving. It is available from Amazon etc, but the quickest way to buy is probably from the Deeper Blue website itself, which is based in the UK.

Thanks for the recommendation Will, I have ordered the 'Manual of Freediving' and I am gonna read it for the two weeks that I am on holiday. Is there anywhere in Sharm el Sheikh where I might be able to visit where there might be some freediving going on?

The Sheikh Coast Dive Centre at Domina Coral Bay has three Apnea Academy Instructors (Ricky, Fabio and Frederico), who organise regular courses.
Otherwise if you can get up to Dahab then there are always freedivers training in the Blue Hole (Lotta Ericson, or Roland and Linda of Blue Skunk).

as for diving in the UK - we are not in Suffolk but are probably the most active club - diving at least once a month in Chepstow.

Once you have done the AIDA ** Course you are welcome to join us any time. The next course is 8.9 October
