The need for a dive computer rise as the temperature of the water. The models that I been looking at is manta, geo and edy just by internet research I like the edy most. hawe annyone had som bad experience whith that computer or hawe annything else to say abut it please do a post.

As far as i know, Aeris Manta and Oceanic Geo is one and the same thing, just marketed under two brands.
I am also about to buy a new computer that would be both for freediving and scubadiving and have the same dilema, Oceanic GEO or Cressi ADY. I looked at both of them during a Diving Fair, a couple of weeks ago. From functional viewpoint, both are pretty good, yet GEO looks and feels more like a proper computer (free)dive while EDY is more slick and hell ya, looks really good! you can easily have it as a regular watch but i am not sure yet that's what i want, i tend to think a computer dive should be for that purpose alone, rather than a fashion statement.
By the way, i dropped a few emails to SUUNTO asking if they plan any upgrade replacement to their aging D3 and i got a crappy answer at first, being suggested to get a ...Stinger!!! (which is out of production apparently). On my not-so-kind reply, i got a more personalised answer with the note that Suunto has no plans for an immediate upgrade or new product but they will gladly take on board my suggestions on what is missing in D3. I told them what is missing, in my opinion but the bottoom line is that Suunto is not coming out with anything similar as Oceanic Geo or Cressi Edy, just yet.

I went the cheeapo route and purchased a used Mosquito on Ebay with cable for $250. It works perfectly. I have seen some D3's sell for about $170 there. It is a risk, but the nice thing about a used watch, with a little wear, is that your not so carefull with it and will use it hard... The watch itself works well, and has all the basics. I also bought a Timex Helix for $30, on ebay, and it is really good! Check them out..
I've been using a Mosquito for several years and have no complaints about it. I got a GEO a couple weeks ago and have used it twice for scuba but only one day for freediving so far. My initial impression of the GEO is all good EXCEPT it does not display any log/history info on the watch for freedives... nothing, not even the dive you just surfaced from. The thread titled Oceanic Geo vs. Suunto D3 on this forum gives screenshots of the freedive log info that you can upload to a PC (if you buy the adapter cable.) But, I really wish it could display freedive log info on the GEO itself, like the Mosquito.
I have an Edy. No complaints at all. Checking logs and memory are a bit complex, but definately happy with my purchase.
Pity about the software glitch that prevents it from reading depth while the alarm is going off though, eh. Probably not a problem for spearos, but for freedivers that use the alarm on the way down to tell them when to do a mouthfill etc, it's a pain having a 4 second flat spot (followed by another 3 second one shortly afterwards) on the graph. Also it doesn't keep a dive history, just a day history.
I've used the timex Helix in the beginning, it's a nice big watch, but it only samples at a 5 seconds rate.....so on your max dives you have to count to 5 to be sure that the depth is correctly measured... And it's rated only to 50 meters i think.
