Freediving in New York area

Can anyone recommend a place to freedive near New York City?

I've heard Dutch Springs in Pennsylvania is super cold ... so if there is an alternate recommendation, I'd appreciate that!

Hi Chisa,
Dutch Springs won't be any colder than the ocean around here, and you won't have to deal with boats, current or waves. A lot of local freedivers will do it in only a 3mm suit. I tend to chill easily, so I use a 5mm. Give it a try. I think you'll like it.

Duth Springs is kind of warm all througt summer and a bit during fall

The surface temp at Dutch Springs is roughly equivalent to the ocean. However, there are thermoclines at Dutch that make it colder at depth.

Hi everybody,

I started an apnea course in my hometown Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy about one month ago. Since I was a child I was passionate about going underwater, but the course is really getting me into a new perspective about apnea. For personal and working reasons I have to move to New York, but I would like to continue my journey inside this discipline, so I would like to keep on training, hopefully finding a really passionate group of people.
I was wondering if somebody has information about swimming pools or organizations in New York which carry on apnea training and so on....

Apnea is not as popular in the US, but we do have some freedivers here in NY. Also, it is often difficult to find pools that allow apnea, but we have a couple.

Thanks for the advice smellsfishy, I know facebook and social media very well...I'm not against them, but I prefer to stay out from facebook and so on...
