Freediving near Rethymno, Crete

I'm off to Crete in a few days, will be staying in Rethymno. Where are the "must go to" places nearby for freediving/snorkelling (I will not have a boat)?

Ok then you can easily go to the Kalypso bay (near Plakias, less than an hour drive South from Rethymno)

Again, thanks for these. I got to Bali and Kalypso, liked them both a lot, especially Bali. I also spend about an hour in the water below the Fortezza in Rethymnon, some nice canyons and cavities there to explore.
