There are occasionally competitions in SFL, though I don't know of any in Tampa. Have you had any formal training? We offer courses and training programs for our certified students. If you have any questions you can message or email me!

Hi Rosibel, welcome to DB.
There are no competitions on the Florida west coast. Watch Martin Stepanics site for his stuff in S Florida.
I train in Sarasota, usually Monday tuesday wednesday, 4 pm at Arlington Park Pool. On wednesday, usually one or two others show up. You'd be welcome anytime.

Hey All,
I'm interested in any FD spots in Florida that don't need a boat (for now)? 60-110' would be ideal.
Not a spear fisher. Fresh or salt is fine. Minumal vis ok.
Just a place to "chill" a few feet down. Not a rippin' current, mild ok. Any tips greatly appreciated!
Also, any Free divers in the Tampa area, I'd be interesting in pool training. Intermediate diver, need to push the limits. Training buddy to watch each others back. Former SCUBA Instructor, have seen the bad and ugly, ...safety priority 1 for me. Thx!

You are welcome to train with us, Arlington pool Sarasota, Monday and usually Wednesday 4 pm.
The only place you can get depth from shore is in the springs. Salt water you must have a boat to find any more than about 20 ft max. If minimal vis is ok, Warm Mineral Springs in Venice is probably closest. Straight down 140 + ,85 degrees F, dark water, vis 10-30 ft. I would not mind another trip down there. Blue Springs Orlando is decent vis, 70 degrees, open all summer and fall.

Hi, my name is Ian. I live in Largo, and would be up for getting together to practice in a pool, or going out to any of the local springs. There is an Olympic sized pool near my home, 50x25m, and the deep end is 17 feet deep, which is a good place to practice. Sarasota is a bit far but I could do that on occasion. By all means, please send me a PM if you'd like to meet up. I'd like to meet some other local freedivers.
Hey Ian! I used to live in Largo and I'm planning on moving back there in a few months! Which pool is this that you're talking about? It sounds awesome! Is it at The Long Center? I don't really remember how big that pool is, but I remember it being pretty friggin' huge...

The pool is at the Southwest Recreational Center. The deep end is actually only 12.9 ft. The 17 ft sign was actually for a diving platform. Nonetheless, its a good place to train.
