Hi,

Has any one dove in one of the Kelp forests off California.
I might be there in July and they look amazing in docos Ive seen.
Im planing on booking a scuba trip and just freediving.

Any advise or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Pretty much anyone on the California forum has dove in the kelp. Its an amazing ecosystem and feels like its own seperate world. Where in CA do you Plan on diving, Northern Ca, Southern CA, islands, mainland, what?

Thanks, No idea where yet, Ive just been looking around online and it seems catalina Island is nice. Do you think any of the local speros would be interested in just doing fun dives ?

If your in San Diego I'm willing to take you to La Jolla and freedive the kelp there . I like to rent Kayaks and spend the day out there . Also go to spearboard and check out the California section . And no matter what have a good time:)

Sounds great, I dont know where and when I'll be yet, im travelling with 4 friends and we will be all over the place. If we pass though San Diego Id definatly be up for a dive.

Can you recomend any good dive shops, im looking at picking up a few wet suits whilst im over there.

Yes my favorite shop is Spear Shack and it's in 0cean Beach the owner is Mark and he is a very experienced diver and knows his stuff . The only problem is he doesn't have a website . But he is also a San Diego Freediver and shares a lot of experience.
