Alright, here's the idea:
A weekend trip from Southern California to Santa Rosa, New Mexico for freediving, photography and all around networking within the freediving community. Leaving on a Friday camping on the BLM in Arizona overnight, Saturday early rise and arriving at the Blue Hole, Sunday the long drive home. Lots of driving. I have already contacted the permits center asking about permits for freedivers; I will update this post as soon as I get a reply.

*No date confirmed yet*
Oct/Nov is a reasonable window, so no rush. I've attachted a screenshot of the trip on a map. The route is subject to change depending on who wants to come.

What We Need:
  • 1-2 vehicles (I have a full size truck)
  • At least 3 people for a safe/fun trip
  • Float + line (optional)

Minimum Requirements:
  • FII Certified Level 1 or equivalent *NO EXCEPTIONS*
  • Reasonable freediving equipment (long fins, weight belt, low volume mask, all that jazz)
  • Camping equipment

If you or someone you know is interested in this trip, please share this post!
If you or someone you know has been to the Blue Hole before, please share any tips!

Sounds fun, bunch of my favorite things combined (road trip, camping, desert, diving). I'm interested. I could imagine carpooling, or not and camping more days, or continuing to Colorado after. Lots of possibilities. I'll keep watch on this thread and the Facebook post.

80 feet is perfect for me. The caves beneath that are outside my range or interest. I notice it's at 4600 feet. Are there any altitude concerns for freediving at that height? At what point is that a consideration?
