I do have wooden post (1/2" poles) and Caution tape. I'm hoping we will be far enough out that we won't run into the ropes. But we'll be careful. Should be interesting.

Brian - I'm sorry you won't be able to make it- I hope to dive with you in the near future.

Depending on how long we are at the Freeze-a-palooza - I might try swinging by the OUTLET afterwards and try out the SLING- and maybe nab some more Carp and some dinner. All depends on how long everyone (the 4 of us) stay.

yeah thats what i am talking about lets make a fast trip to the outlet and slay some carp

Scott, just one bit of advice. There is ice out there. Be careful, don't slip!

Scott,

How long is the bar on your chain saw? Just was a fun question...With all the cold weather...

Gene

I believe it's 18" possibly longer- but at least 18

- Oh- My back is 98% GOOD to GO!

I'm really fried...But I'm still gonna try to make it. I'll probably be up before the sun is - as is usual lately...

I'm looking forward to just hangin' out again for a little bit!

I'd actually be more excited to hit "the outlet" than to go to Nagawicka. But hey...I'll just be glad to get outta the house for awhile! :chatup

See you guys!

Well, I'm still in for sure. Back is fine, wife is in a good mood.....truck runs.

Let me know if you need any extra gear or anything......
and you have my cell if anything changes last minute.

Oh....Just sayin' HI!!! :)

AT 3 O'CLOCK IN THE FRIGGIN' MORNIN'!!!

But hey...I got almost 4 hours sleep...Not too bad considering the girls are now only about 12 days old.

Me go...bed now...me sleep....ah yes sleep....

AHHHHHHHH!!!!! A BABY IS CRYING!!!!!!!

:inlove Gotta love it! :t

Freeze-A-Palooza 2008

Let me start by saying IT WAS A BLAST! :friday These events are what memories are made of. We Cut out a square hole in about 45 feet of water. Cutting the hole was easier than I thought it would be. We had 4 brave souls to enter the water : Whopperhead, Pinggene, WreckRunner & dotey. We were also visited by NEW Papa: Bgill.

I believe 3 of us reach the bottom. Safety being our #1 concern. We had successful dives! The air Temps rose and fell throughout the day, we even had snow - almost white out conditions. Water temp was 30.9 degrees.

I was able to try out my monofin today- first time trying one- I was able to get to the bottom faster and easier- But I'm sure I looked clumsy.

The highlight of the Day for me was the CANNON BALL Contest! rofl some very interesting entries into the water.

We finished the day by closing up the hole and marking it off. All in all we had a safe and successful event. Thanks for all who made it and hope the rest can come next year-

WE may do another ice dive this year- if we have time.

PS - The Food was Great!

What an awesome day. Incidentally.....that look on my face captures the essence of what it feels like to jump in, cannonball style without a mask, open your eyes in 31 degree water, then climb out into 25 degree air. I've never felt searing pain on my corneas before today.

We started by walking waaay out into this really flat field where I presumed someone once grew corn....or maybe cotton. Turns out it was a friggin lake......all the dive gear made soooooo much more sense once I realized that.
I've never needed a chainsaw to gain access to water before. And, I have never dove in a lake with a 5' X 5' hole being the only access to breathable air ...... With three other large males sharing that same roomy surface hole........there was fin-to-face-slappin-a-plenty today folks. I have "Cressi" in bright red letters on my left cheek.

Not to mention the fact that doing nice calming breathe-ups are harder with Dan playing snowball-sniper from behind the ice shanty.

Very cool day. Whopperhead and Pinggene did some really nice dives. Dotey got down there a bit too!

I learned a valuable lesson about owning a proper rubber weight-belt and the uncomfortable feeling that a 22 lb. necklace gives one at the bottom of a lake with no direct view of the sky above it.

Thanks for the lessons in Wisconsin craziness. I am starting to feel like a local. Sort of.

We have GOT to do this again before spring. It was one of the neatest things I have gotten to experience in the water.
