Hello to all fellow freedivers! :)

I have a question about the frenzel equalization technique, I realized that in order for it to work for me, I had to use valsalva to clear open my ear drums first in the surface.

If I were to try the tongue "piston" before opening my ear drums with valsalva it doesn't work...

I'm not sure if anyone here is experiencing the same thing? Am I doing it right/wrong?

Any input will be greatly appreciated... :D

Yes, I guess you do something wrong. Normally, with Frenzel you can achieve pressure equal or greater than that you can do with Valsalva, and you can dose it more precisely. So I guess your Frenzel is not efficient, or perhpas instead of Frenzel you are trying to do BTV - there indeed opening the tubes first with Valsalva may help. But finally it is not that important. The main thing is that you can equalize as deep as you need. With practice it will improve and you will find the right way naturally.

Thanks for the input Trux!! :)

Yea, I should have guessed that you shouldn't need to combine 2 techniques. Anyway, definitely not BTV coz I had to pinch my nose.. :blackeye although being able to do that would be COOL!!

yes, need more practice to catch the "kick" :)

Thanks again..
