I just need some advice. I want a full face mask, mostly for cold water diveing, and i mean antartica diving. So i was wondering what is the best one to get? Do you need to do any other sort of training to use them properly or are they pretty self expanintory?

Cheers Guys

There is some extra training you will have to take to use ffm safely. Its not rocket science to learn some new techniques. The biggest thing is the extra gas you will use when using ffm's.Also clearing techniques can be a little hassel till you get it down. One excellant advantage is uwcom. d/d, d/b, b/d, communications is a really an innovation in diving, especially the enjoyment of talking to your buddy. If not using comms. just the comfort of a warm dry face.

In my limited experience of FFM 's Ocean reef .
I have found 2 things.
1 FFM's are very comfy, and in the case of Ocean reef a huge field of view.
2 You will use more air as Tom says, the main reason is that most FFM's use positive pressure inside the mask to prevent flooding.
It is possible but maybe unsafe to change the reg so that you don't have positive pressure.
Antarctic conditions will need special regs as freezing will usually occur in the first stage.
