Gauge diving

Hi,

Ive only been diving a short while and the thorny issue of choosing a Dive Computer has come up. Most of the functionality I can work out and then compare and contrast.

The one thing that has stumped me (and in my search led me here which is a happy day for me) is having a Gauge feature. i.e. modes ...\nitrox\gauge.

Some do some dont, now I cant work out it I will ever need it or not as I dont know what it is. Just wondered if anyone can shed any light

The gauge feature is for depth timing and is a nice to have if you intend to do technical dives, which is not your standard open water stuff. A good simple to use computer from Apex/Sunnto/mares etc will set you back £ 150/200. Trust me it will be fine for your first 50 or so dives or until you want to get more adventurous, and then you need to be taking at least 2 computers with you anyway.
