I just joined this forum, I'm an Aussie now living in Italy.
I used to do a lot more spearfishing and freediving than I do now, when I was back in Oz but I have recently started up again.

At the moment I am looking for a good spot to spear outside of the Med, but it seems to be hard to find good information on such a vauge question.

I'll hopefully be around the traps here for a while yet.

Italy is full of spearos you should have no problem finding buddies. you say you would like to go outside the Med??? you will have to travel quite a bit then.....like the Atlantic, Portugal and north Spain. The fish there are 30% or so bigger.
