Hi all,

I picked up a Go Pro HD Hero and plan on taking some videos when I start diving. I need to order the flat lens for underwater filming still. Has anyone used one of these? Did you build you own mount or buy one (mako seems to have a cool mount)?

Chris

I built my own for my wood guns, but I think that the mako mount for pipe guns looks pretty sweet. Not to seem like some sort of shill for Mako, but based on the feedback on their flat lens mod, I would go ahead and order one of those at the same time. My buddy has the same camera and bought the Mako lens, but we haven't gotten it wet yet, so I have no videos to share for side by side comparison. If you YouTube the videos, you can see the difference between stock and the various flat lenses.

My parents bought both the flat lens and mount for my brother. His birthday is on 5/14, he lives in Hilo Hawaii and dives a few times a week so I expect quick feedback from him. If he gives the thumbs up, I will be purchasing both (+ an extra housing so I have a wide angle lens as well).

The wide angle lens will be very useful when diving in Wisconsin Waters. Every camera I get from here on out will have a wide angle lens. My Brother won a GO PRO at one of our contest things a few years back, it seemed to put out decent videos. There were all DRY Videos not of any diving or spearfishing. And I think he has since lost it. I think he sold it for Crack.

I guess there are focus issues with using the wide angle lens underwater... I will hopefully be able to share videos over the next month.
