GoPro HD camera focus fix - finally got the one I want !!

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Yeah I fitted the GoForFocus as mentioned before, never had a problem with it leaking and I've taken it down to about 15m.

Hi all,

Just wanted to share a modification that I made to my GoPro...not the HD, but the sports 170*....
I use the camera regularly while diving...but really wanted a red filter for color correction.
At the time, there was nothing offered, so....I used an old underwater red filter (screw on type) that I had and machined a small bracket from aluminum to attach to the factory mount/arm pieces...
Very simple fab...and works great! The filter can even be moved out of the way quickly....
Hope you like.

Please post with & without pictures with this lens setup!

Can you mass produce these brackets?? ;)

Unfortunately, do not have any (still) pictures yet....just video...
Will try and take some pictures soon to compare..
As far as mass producing....hmmm...possibly. But for now, maybe just a couple.
Not overly time consuming...and the major cost is the filter ittself.
Other than that, 1 small alum rivet, 1 ss machine screw and nut and the small bracket ittself.

Stay tuned....

where do you stick the camera to, on a helmet or you hold it in the hand because i find it difficult to hold the camera by hand and frame and don t shake too much ...?

Here's the newest solution on the market - the BlurFix:

About Our Products

This solution allows you to use any 55mm filter on your GoPro.

With the provided low profile filter, there is no vignetting in r1, r2, r3, or r5 modes. R4 has some vignetting with the filter installed. With the filter taken off for above water use, there is no vignetting at all.

The unit comes with desiccant balls that are installed in a lollipop groove located on the bottom of BlurFix adapter. The desiccant balls ensure fogging is never an issue.

Let me know what you think.

I am about to get the GoPro. But I have some questions.

Is the 960 enough? I guess yes, because I don't need slow motion for freediving anyway :)

Should I get the correction lens with or without the color filter? How easy is it to remove, if I want to change?

I would go for the Hero HD. Why? Because you can attach the new LCD-Back not onto the 960. So.... better spent a few bucks more, than to be upset a while later not to be able to use the LCD-Back.
