I know I'm being lazy here and should do my own research but decided to ask the question here and treat it as my starting point.

I'm planning to buy GoPro camera for underwater filming. I'm on tight budget but would like to have a basic set for it.

What would I need? Which camera model? What type of gear to attach it to my head?

Any suggestions highly appreciated.

Check out some of the YouTube channels from Freediver HD https://www.youtube.com/user/Born2Die83 and Freediver Youbuur https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDKHcfZExHw7JNZA0jiSVSw . They both use a pole with the GoPro attached for vids, and if you watch carefully you will see their technique. I have used the GoPro attached to my head and body but it is difficult to move in the water so that the image is natural and fluid.
My camera is a GoPro Hero3+, but the secret is in learning a studio program. (You can download the GoPro Studio for free.)

Actually I'm using a GoPro Hero3, which isn't so expensive and does a good job. Besides using a pole but I also a ribbon around my head. That's pretty fine, just adjust the GoPro in the same direction where you normally look - it sees +- the same as you do. Moving slowly is a must, quite educative for free-diving :)

OK, thank you guys. I think I will go for GoPro HERO 3 - due to a lower price.
