Hello

I'm going to Naxos, Greece with some kite-surfing friends. I'm bringing my (ordered-yesterday-but-not-yet-arrived) diving gear, and hope to talk some of the others into trying at least snorkelling on a day with weak wind.

Has anyone been there? Any recommendations for good places to dive either somewhere on Naxos or near by?

I have found this map of the Cyclades, but thought maybe someone here had some more information.

Thanks,

hi there mate - when you going to naxos? i did the cyclades last year - some great viz in the waters off most of the islands
try syros on the way to naxos - some good drop offs from the main beaches to about 20m - some good formations and the odd fish

for sheer spectacle you absolutely must go to santorini - get off the ferry and get to fia - then get on a bus and go to oia - walk down to the little port at ammoudi - get your gear on and jump in
the viz is amazing - the place was blown up by a volcano years ago and the underwater scenery is amazing - you'll get some good apnea times as the water is cool and can go as deep as you feel comfortable -

naxos is ok too i guess - find the main beach - swim out to about 300 metres offshore - take a breath and have a look about - gurantee you good viz and plenty of stuff to mooch about in at the bottom

Thanks!

I was planning to go there a few weeks ago, but thanks to bailing friends and "oh no, you have to work" boss, I still haven't been there.

The reason for going to Naxos was that my friends like kite-surfing. Now, without the kites, I can go wherever I want, and since a friend is sailing in the Caribbean (Martinique, St. Lucia, etc) this winter..... :)

:waterwork gutted for ya mate
still i suppose you will havet force yourself to go to the crib for xmas - harsh life eh
