Salutations from the bad part of Virginia. Not new to monofining, but still a newbie in skill level. My first fin was a Finis Monofin Trainer 2, which was a bit much at first, but have worked up to it. I later bought their Foil Monofin, which I must say is much better for a beginner and more lap swim friendly. I recently went to St. John for a couple weeks and spent sometime with the Trainer 2 and found that in the open water it was absolutly amazing! When snorkeling I had never done a surface dive past 15 feet with traditional fins, but with the monofin 40+ wasn't even a chalange. Now that I am back home I am commited to building my ability with the monofins. I have been taking my Foil Monofin to my gym and swimming a kilometer five nights a week...My goal is to contiue to build my abilities to swim distance and length of breath holding so that my next travel to big water will be even better. Longterm goal, I hope to attend one of the freediving schools in Florida. I hope to learn from others here as well as find some gear tips...right now thinking about the WW Nemo fin as my next upgrade when I am ready for it.
