Hello to all!

I'am Reda, from Algeria, and I'am still discovering the world of breath-hold diving, which fascinates me!
I'am really happy to be here, among all of you guys fellow freedivers, since, in Algeria, there are no freediving centers or facilities (just scuba-duving, which does not interest me), and freediving isn't very known here, so no freediving buddies

Ever since this became my passion, I've been holding my breath everyday, everywhere, anytime I can - Of course, safety taken care of every step I take! I've been reading articles, watching videos, learning from here and there... Bottom line, I'am now a person who cannot live without the water

Anyhow, just wanted to pass and say hi, and also, maybe you guys could recommend some stuff for me to read or learn, especially safety procedures and precautions. That would be appreciated

Welcome to Deeperblue! Are the scuba diving centers certified by a particular organization? Some of those offer freediving training. You may also want to post in the Africa/Middle East or Mediterranean subforums. You may also want to look around in those subs to see if anyone has posted from your area in the past. Who knows, you may find a buddy.

Not at all, sure there are lack of centers and facilities, but there are some diving clubs here and there, and there are professional spearfishers and accomplished freedivers.
Plus there is the national FASSAS, wich isn't mainly about freediving, but is responsible for all clubs that deal with scuba and freediving
there are certificed CMAS instructors in it's membership.
But the notable thing is the complete abscence of any AIDA judge, or any athletes (i heard of).
