Living in Sydney and keen to get into some freediving, spearfishing etc! For first questions was wondering if it is possible to dive for crayfish in the Sydney region?

Yes mate this is the time of year when they are most abundant. Remember you can only take two per day & need a fishing licence. You can only use a gloved hand, we are not allowed spear them here like in other states. Crayfish like the surf zone so when we have those westerlies which flatten the ocean, that is the time to go. If you are keen to learn I would strongly recomend joining one of the four spearfishing clubs in Sydney. The USFA will have a web site with contacts for each. They are all good & have monthly meetings & comps & great people who will help keen divers. Stay safe. Sharkey
