You following the thread on the "other site"? What gear to use to catch bass you can see close in ,in front of you in shallow water. I was tempted to say "Comanche 90" but don't want to upset them .

I am still waiting for parts to finish my roller gun. Namely longer 16mm bands & metal wishbone kit. Anyhow I put the gun together so you can see my progress. Note the 1000mm x 7mm painted spear.

Looking good mate, I presume the concept of a roller gun is reduced length for the same power?

Is the sliding spear thing to improve accuracy? i guess it keeps the spear online whilst the bands would tend to move up at the end of their travel because they wrap around.

If you mean "the easy load wishbone" I have fitted it to aid loading. The holes in the wishbone extension allow a bar to be passed through so you have something to hold. As you can see there is not enough of the band showing to load in the normal way.

Hmm, I think I've got a bit confused, was talking about that silver collar that appears to be on the spear shaft, what is it for? Does it slide?

Like the idea of that wishbone though, just been picking the scabs off my finger today! Just bought me something from subprof thats sposed to save your fingers on loading, and may also try some dynemma wishbones.

Arr, well yes that is a ring slider. Not so popular nowadays but there is a good reason for it but I am not revealling the reason until I finish kitting the gun.

I am not surprised you are a bit blue, to many breath holds I suspect!

Ooh a trade secret eh! Thought there must be a good reason as it'll add to the drag on the spear in flight quite a bit I'd have thought.

I'd be much happier if this blueness would be relieved just by breathing a bit more! Think of what you'd least like bruised and swollen...

Thousands of fish line the infinate beach, bustling fishermen haul i n huge nets filled with all typs of fish. The indian ocean, absolutely full of fish...Our experience of the Indian coastline is completely overwhelmed by those famous creatures you spearfishermen adore so very much. The air, the view, the food is immersed in ocean...as is your tiny island yet in a very different way...
We head out towards Australian after visiting Rajistan the indian desert, where Marco desperately wants to go spearfishing, (i don't know how with his irrational fear of sharks!)
Well must go as here it is 12pm and they need to close!

Wow... slightly sunnier climes Hope the travelling is going well - tell Marco that the sharks in Australia are quite friendly ... At least that's what I have heard. Maybe get in touch with an Aussie from this forum and see if they can hook you up with a dive ? (shark free of course). Hey Ed! There's a crazyman living in you mate!

Welcome to the forum mate, just starting out myself as well, you'll learn a lot on here.

For breath hold training info look no further than the freediving section above. Look through the post in the beginner freediving section and you'll soon have more information than you know what to do with!

I'm no expert but the key thing is simply to relax. Dry times go up massively at first with practice, though I'm yet to transfer that to massively increased time underwater

I'm considering a job in Guernsey and need a bit of advice. It would mean roughly a 35% increase in salary but will that just get sucked up by living expenses etc?

Any other people who've moved from the mainland got any advice?

Is there any mountain biking worth bothering with on the island (notwithstanding the fact you don't appear to have mountains)? Obvisouly I'd still be able to surf and dive but am I better off selling my bike (and my white water kayak come to think of it)?

Anyone got any tips on primary teaching jobs on the island (for the missus)?
