Hi ,

The weekend is intended to be an informal friendly get together with the emphasis on quality fish, along the lines of your "fish ins".

We had hoped more divers from Guernsey and Jersey and UK would take part. I think Mart has a diver coming over from the UK, but unfortunately,only two divers can make it from Jersey (me and Louis). We are travelling Friday am. Martin and Jonny should be meeting up with us during Friday. The weather looks unpredictable, so I believe the venue will be set last minute based upon their local knowledge and prevailing conditions. I think the plan is to fish the dropping tide/ low + on Saturday morning/afternoon, or if conditions are looking really hopeless, potentially Sunday (Jsy will try to dive both days). Thanks to Apnea there is a prize for the best bass. We have yet to finalise the details re other potential species, but they will probably include quality mullet, flatties, bream etc. We will agree a list of ineligible fish (eg congers ,wrasse). As u can see it is informal and quite a bit has yet to be decided! We will post the full details on DP by Friday evening.

Hope u can make it and hope to meet as many other divers as pos.

Low tide on Sat is at mid day, Mike suggested a 6 hour competition time - 3 hours either side of the low.
Personally I have never spent 6 hours spearfishing at one time in my life LOL.
Anyway the weigh in would be at 3 pm if that is the way it goes, I would most likely dive from 11-2.
Of course we have the bass fishing festival to contend with as well but in any event I will be offering my firehouse hospitality on the Sat evening from 6.30pm for anyone who competes in the comp.

Are any other local spearos going to participate? It would be good to get together... Only fair on foxfish to give him some notice for numbers at the firehouse tho...

Mike do you guys do any night diving?

I went in tonight, just for 20 minutes, saw about 20 plaice and sole, some red mullets and took a nice two and a half pound sole

Some pics of the successes yesterday, at the only sheltered spot we could find, and a new one for most of us. I'll leave the others post their stories, but basically I saw nowt apart from some baby pollack. The vis wasn't brilliant where I went. I think the crapauds may be leading at this stage, but there's still today...

Well done to louis for shooting a fish before anyone else even got in the water today!

Thanks to mike for getting us all together, it was nice to get a bunch of spearos in one place together and compare notes and stories. And well done mike for the biggest bass of the weekend!

And thanks to foxfish for organising and feeding us last night, good food and good company

Twas a good few days ... I think we all got on well together ... quite a few fish caught ... more than a few drinks drunk .... its just the beginning though....
