It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Had a quick splash this evening. Landed my biggest ever sole and a plaice. Will stick it on the scales tomorrow.

Well done andy. How are the new fins?

Tom, CnR man did recapture his fish, bear hug style, so not all bad :) don't think he posts on here much.

The anglers are catching plaice too now. Chatted to a guy who had plaice and bass on the rod.

Jonny, I'm lost, who is the mystery man of catch and release?

Anyway, not been in for months, then twice in two days, this time with Ed.

Set off into the darkness and 10 minutes in something familiar happened. My torch conked out! Not the same torch as last night but another homemade job, and this time it's proper futu, which is good news as I get to rebuild it with better leds :-) Onto the backup torch and soon found myself hanging over a rug of a sole, which came home with me.

A few small blondes and a cuttle later and I spot another sole, smaller but takeable, then notice a plaice of about the same size not 2 feet away. Whilst deciding which to go for I unhook the bands in preparation to stab when I look back down and see a 3lbs bass swim right between them! Not had many bass this year so the bands get pulled again and it gets the bad news. A lucky night for those two flatties!

Ed then gets a nice Red Mullet, and I find a black bream before the batteries on both lights start to run dry so we head back in.

Another nice dive in reasonable but not sparkling viz, which looking at the forecast maybe the last we see of that for a while!

Back home the Sole weighs in at 3lbs 12oz. Looks a broader fish than the 4lber I had earlier in the year but it's thinner.

Good stuff Maggers, you still got it mate.
:)

Yeah good dive last night - what Tom said - viz ok and just good to get wet again. Cold by the end - maybe in for 2 hours ?
New torch worked well - same body as Tom's one (cheap £40 or £50 chinese LED) but with XML led's in - I think we both agreed that the medium power of the XML is equal to the high power of the P7 or MCE (I'll leave tech specs to Tom!). And the high power on the XMl is pretty good. Batteries lasted about 2 hours with me running it on medium for the first hour I guess and then on high for the last hour. Pretty impressed that you can get a torch this powerful for about 25% the cost of my original FaMi torch ... and over twice the light too... and the batteries are easier to deal with I find. The FaMi was all recharging AA x4 batteries the whole time.... maybe I just went more back then :)
So yeah - good dive.
Really good to see some blondies down there rippling across teh sand - they look incredible from the surface - almost like the sand is moving in a fish shape if you know what I mean - and then close up they are pretty spectacular too with the colours. I managed to get one to calmly lift off the bottom and swam with it for a short way as it languidly cruised about 6" from the sand.
Thanks Tom - good company, good dive.

Sounds good Ed.

I went in this morning for a look around. Once the fishing boat left me alone i had a good dive. Came home with 2 bass and a pollack. the water was still nice and clear, but the wind is up now, so only a matter of time till it clouds up i expect...
Here's the pixie pic, not great shots, but they worked!! :)

Feel very different, will take some getting used to. Only had a quick splash to try them out. Catching was a bonus

Tom, we were going mushroom hunting in the 14 acres of woodland that surround the hotel but I can't walk more that a few feet without wimping - still we have the gale force wind to enjoy on Condor tomo!

Take it easy Mart...

:fridayWell i'm glad this weather has turned as i have a John (not a demijon but a full gallon!) of 6 year old Port that needs dealing with... :friday

Well i had a wee glass of this port last night; its sweet and fruity, made from blackberry, apple and bilberry. but i dont think its going to be too popular, certainly not the best one i've ever made :(

Was it anyone on here in at Lancresse on Saturday night? Feedback is that there's one slightly unhappy angler who didnt appreciate sharing the space. Just my 2p, but best to move on or out if you see torches on the beach...

Not us, I always take a few minutes to check for fisherman before going in if it's a likely place.

First one there has the right to uninterrupted use in my opinion.
