Hi all,

Guernsey Fish in/Deeper Blue meet 2012.

Jersey spearfishing club members are very keen to join in and once they have a date for the "fish in" they will try to arrange comp dive dates accordingly.



JSC have already agreed a date for the annual International Open competition, which will be held on 21st July 2012 in St Ouens Bay, Jersey. The competition attracts the British team and sometimes the French.

It would be great to see some Guernsey divers.

I could be up for a comp/get together in Guernsey if it's an open invite, although i would have to work around the uk nationals and possibly the worlds in Spain June/July time!

Hi Dave, yes of course you will be welcome but at the moment I am working with Mike, Jonny & a few others to try and get a date that wont clash with the numerous activities everyone seems to be doing throughout the summer!
We will get there in the end......

actually it does sound like it would be interesting, but i have already booked my annual trip to Shepton Mallet for that date!!! typical.

We should also ressurect an old high-tide game/competition which i was told about by a local fisherman;
The rousse Pier walk; walk from the top of the slipway underwater to the steps at the far end, carrying a suitably heavy stone.

I use to participate in "Boulder walking" but my mate blacked out one year & came close to death. He had been drinking before hand though! (as had every one else too)

There are lots problems with trying to find a date to fit in with everybody for the proposed Fish in.
Obviously we want a nice tide around mid day in the summer months and so do all the competition organisers thought the UK!
Then there are holidays aready booked & other comitments that folk have......
It will never be possible to satisfy everyone with one date :head

2012 "Fish in"

This years "fish in" was almost a last minute decision, , quite a few spearo's couldn't make it, so we ended up with only a hand full of divers , but it was still fantastic and I would be happy to join in exactly the same thing again in 2012.


As Martyn says, primarily due to tides, suitable 2012 weekend dates are limited, and unfortunately, being the summer, people may already have made other plans, so not everyone who would like to join in, will be able to do so.

We are hoping, however, that with sufficient notice, some divers, may still be able to plan this into their year or even adjust their plans around it (JSC spearos are keen to join in and have said they will try and set club dives accordingly).

At the end of the day, I dont think it matters whether there are 5 or 30 divers, as long as its fun.

We will definitely have a fish in, I have got two possible dates now but, I want to avoid clashing them with any locale fishing comps before we can confirm the final date.
