Guillaume Néry world record attempt

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Cool!

Things I noticed that were interesting about the footage:
-fast descent speed
-kick and glide shot (allowing muscles to recharge?)
-easy easy recovery (he didn't look hypoxic at all!)
-crazy french friends jumping in the water (that just never happens in North American world recor attempts - which is a shame, I think!)

Felicitations Guillaume! On espere bientot savoir de tes nouvelles!

There was a documentary in five parts about Guillaume and his preparation for the record on the French TV F2. The streams are still available, but will expire in few days (they do keep them just about a week or two). You can view them here:
There are some quite nice shots, though the commentary is traditionally often stupid (and in French anyway). It is worth of viewing, so if you want to see it, do it now - the links expire very quick. The video is streamed, so if you want to save it on a disk, you need a special software like for example Net Transport (there is a 90 days evaluation version) or a player with a persistent cache (where you can then find the stream).

I am currently overhauling my Video Link Collection at APNEA.cz into a database system, so I do not update the old static page anymore, but as soon as the new system is online, these videos (and other new ones) will be there too. I am saving all videos (including such streams) on my PC, so (purely theoretically) I could made them available online on my server, but am afraid of two things - 1) server load/bandwidth, and 2) copyright issues. While the first could be solved by registration, I am not sure about the copyright issues, and whether it would be legal to make the video clips available if the access was not public though rather just for registered members from a limited community. I may need to check with a lawyer :(

Wow, awesome doc videos - very inspiring...

Thanks for putting them on Apnea Amsterdam, I couldn't watch them otherwise - for some reason my Windows Media Player couldn't recognize the stream on the original videos.

Keep going Guillaume!

Does anyone know why, in the first video, Guillaume starts his descent and surfaces with goggles, but the underwater footage shows him without goggles? Does he take them off at somepoint during the dive?
