Talang Queenfish...... semi pelagic species of Jack. Decent eating, curious but flighty - makes for a good hunt. they get about 120cms, but most are 80 - 90.

Re. queenies
In Sodwana the queenies are mostly a summertime fish , often found in schools behind backline and shallow reef . they are very inquisitive (polite way of saying stupid) .
When hunting with two guns , or if other spearo's are nearby , you can often stone one ; keep it dangling in midwater and keep on taking more out of the milling school .
Have speared them up to 9 kg ; don't often shoot them anymore as I personally don't like the taste .
We have a winter version , the garrik lichia amia ; same basic shape and behaviour (and taste ) . These grow much larger , 20 kg +
