What does everyone think or the hammerhead evoulition. Im going to get the Evolution 100 or shoul i get a sea hornet rhino. I will be shooting snapper around the oil rigs.

How many times you going to ask this question rofl- I can't speak for the sea hornet - But I know you'd be happy with the HammerHead. Just my 2 cents.

get a rob allen or an aimrite, or maybe a rabitech. they have been around longer than hammerhead and are proven brands. sea hornets are not freediving guns. a 100cm gun is only good in 10-15' viz, if you dive in anything clearer you will need a bigger gun.

Dude if you are going to scuba go for the sea hornet, It's been said that those guns are more suited for those kinds of hunts. Only consider the HH or the AIMRITE or RA if you free dive. IMO i would go with RA or RABI ! if you want a complete gun go with the HH evolution with 7.5mm shaft. you wont need to change anything on it ie: muzzle bands w.e! it comes ready for action & i do trust them as far as manufacturing goes.

Hammer Head Hammer Head Hammer Head - B'yatch! :t

Pole spear- Gat-Ku Gat-Ku Gat-Ku - I'll say it again B'yatch! Gat-Ku! :)

EDIT: Manny Puigs are TOO HEAVY for MY use - in my opinion....I'm not after Yellow Fin Tuna here, or Dorado's....Just panfish and carp!

well see how your HH holds up to my AMI 2 whopperhead LOLrofl

Hey man HH aren't bad guns I don't know why people don't completely trust them?

Is it because they are AMERICAN MADE?

oh know i know its a good gun i just like messing with whooperhead he will do the same thing back the HH is a really nice gun

The next gun I buy might be a HH. My main complaint about euros is that the shafts are too thin and easily bent and that if you break the band, you're done. HH seems to solve both of these problems by coming with a thicker shaft and multiple bands, so the gun is ready to go out of the box. I haven't shot one yet, but I have heard nothing but good reports and they look well made.

The Spears are very strong too- I put it through the test 2 weeks ago. I had some carp thrashing around and the spear was very sound. I told my friend (TASS) the HammerHead is the PERFECT Speargun.

The durability of a 6mm - 7mm shaft will increase as it gets shorter. The shafts for the 75's are going to be fairly tough. The two bads on the H.H. are, 17mm I think. Not a bad size. I'm not fond of multiple bands if I don't have to use them, dunno why. I have the parts to re-rig my gun if something breaks. I can also switch off to a sling and soon a pole-spear. I'm going to try Ray Odor's pole spear. I've paid for it, just gotta pick it up in two days.

Not much to go wrong with these guns really. If you check it out before you leave. Other than a bent shaft of course.

Just my opinion of course. I still say, if you like the look and feel of the gun, it's a great gun. Whatever your comfortable with is going to work the best.

Sounds like something very serious! some RA's don't fully catch the shaft in the back so when you load them they shoot off a shot by mistake.

:hmmI seem to recall there were some reports of issues with the early versions of the older RA handles. However, I had that start happening with the Vecta handle at the end of last season, although I think it is possibly down to grit/mini-pebbles off some of the beaches here (they are often in the water when you first enter) getting into the mech. or wear caused by the same. The other related issue is not being able to insert the spear to load it sometimes. Both are incredibly frustrating after planning, packing gear, driving 70miles, getting geared up, walking in, etc. However, I understand this is unusual, and I would think all spearguns would be susceptible to this. RA have a loyal following because folk have come to trust their tough, high quality products. They also warranty and stand behind their gear. I'll be replacing my trigger mech. soon, so might get some further insight then.

The Hammerhead product looks fine to me, very much like one of the SA railguns (Rob Allen/Rabitech/Orcas/Pelaj/...). I wouldn't be too worried about the rubbers, they'll probably work fine & can be changed easily enough. I guess the trigger mech is the place with the most moving parts and subject to the most force. Make sure they have a good warranty if you are concerned, most US companies are very good in this regard and look after their customers well. The liability laws in the US should also provide ample discouragement from releasing anything dangerous. If you are an "early adopter" you will go with it, if you are cautious you probably won't. I'm pretty cautious but occasionally adopt some new technology/service/brand/product, if it has something to offer. What does the Hammerhead have to offer -- better price?

Anybody know if it is possible to fit Rabitech handles onto fit RA railguns, and vice versa?

BTW You might want to try contacting member RigDiver...I would think he might be able to provide some insights.

Mr.X is your RA so bad that you have to replace the trigger mech? I did not think it would get that serious! I hope the warranty covers your expenses. GL

As to what you stated above ^ I agree I don't know if it has to do with pubbles of sand getting into the trigger mech however, I do know the feeling of trying to jam your shaft in the housing so it will catch. I furiously tried when it happend to me and it didn't catch for some reason. The water was super clear and unlike your conditions it was in the ocen so little to no sand was present in the water. I don't know what I did exactly that fixed the problem luckly it hasn't happend again.

From that point on I engraved in my head not to load the gun close to any one or in there directions.

Funny because I too would like to know if I can fit a Rabitech but to an RA barrel.

Mr. X

I have both the RA and a Rabi, I would think so if the Barrel diameter and wall thickness are the same. Both line release are located in the same location. I am taking a trip out to catalina island this weekend and will try the swap when I get back and let you know.

good luck

Posted some infor but I put it under the Rob Allen thread?! I guess still half asleep.

good luck

OK,

I took a look at the muzzles on both the Rabi and the RA. It seem that the Rabi has a thicker wall on the barrel seeking as how the RA muzzle is too large to fit inside the Rabi barrel.

So putting a Rabi Trigger mech on a RA barrel is no problem but the other way around will take some sanding of the muzzle and the trigger mech at the points where they are inserted in the barrel.

Other than that small difference and the Rabi trigger mech having one pin holding it to the barrel and the RA having 2 screws.

I think it would be a easy change out.

See my other posting on most recent Rob Allen thread for any other information.

Good Luck

Joel
