A BIG  difference in performance is to be able to equalize the first meters hands free (BTV - Beance Tubulaire Volontaire). It can be done automatically by yawning, buy anyone kows how to find, train and strenghthen that muscle to do it easily while freediving?

Hola

Hola Armando,
I've always think that teaching that techinque is very hard. I don' remember how I started to use it, but now is so automated to me that can figure out a good way to teach it. Bill wrote before that practicing the "movement" while yawning or swallowing will help.
I try this with a student, and is not easy. What I'm doing to keep the "muscle" in shape is, to make the "noise" in the ears many times in the day while working. But the depth practice is very important. When I was living by the sea, my BTV technique was perfect, know is not so efficient.
Well, I didn't answer your question, but those are my 0.2 cent

Hi Armando
I know how to do it, always did, but not how to teach it. I think all I am doing is using the muscles around the eustation tube exit to open the valve. All that shows on the outside is a very slight and narrow depression of the skin directly under the ears and extending almost under my chin. Could be wrong, but I think the muscles get stronger with practice. donmoore on this forum was working on getting voluntary control of the valves, but I don't know his results. Best of luck and let us know what you find.

0.2 cent

Well, I didn't answer your question, but those are my 0.2 cent

0.2 cent is one fifth of a cent.

A very cheap comment indeed Fpernett :D

If you stick with the internationally accepted, regulated and standardized price of comments then i believe you should have coughed up 0.02 Dollars
or 2.0 cents.

Last chance ok :naughty

For the record.. how many of you are guilty of writing cheques / checks out as follows :

300.50 $ ( three hundred dollars and 50/100c )

how much is 50/100c

1/2 of a cent.... not what you meant is it ?

Skindiver.

lol

If you are scratching your head (like I was), just read Skin's profile. That will explain his....er.....passion for monetary accuracy :D.
