Thanks Deep Thought. The one I'm really proud of and the one no one will ever best is my wife, she's the best catch of my life :king I'm lucky that she likes to dive too,

Hmmmm Rolando....we all have our secrets and I'd rather not lie to you so I'll just say lower caribbean. I'm sure a lot of spots in the Caribbean are productive like this one but I think I found a little spot in paradise that I want to keep to myself for next time Aren't fisherman just all the same.

I'm Probably WAY of, but my guess would be it was in the western part of the Lower caribbean... Most likely one of the central american countries bordering the caribbean sea... The San Blas archipelago or Bocas Del Toro area of Panama, or further north in Honduras, Nica or Belize... The eastern/southern caribbean isn't doing to good on big fish life any more. But like I said, I'm probably way of, and even if I were to be close, I'm sure you wouldn't tell

It's amazing but you were close and probably for the reasons you mentioned. If I knew you better I would also venture to bet you're probably a pretty good gambler and have a pretty good hand of Poker!

I'd like to think it is my knowledge of having grown up in the southern Caribbean, and having travelled the area extensively. The shelves surrounding most of the eastern and southern Islands are just to narrow to sustain large resident reef fish populations. All but the least populated & remote islands in the area are subjected to heavy overfishing, and even the sparsly populated ones are subjected to fleets from neighbouring islands... Its pretty sad to witness. It does seems that dog snapper are one of the more common large snappers, the further south you go. I ran into a few large ones last december while visting home...

Anyway, great catch, regarless of where you shot them...
