Hi there:

I hope someone can share their thoughts with me.. I was freediving a shallow shipwreck 7 to 10 mts. last week. I was getting off a cold and the last few dives I heard something wierd on my way to the surface in my left ear- like a fluttering. Nothing hurt and I was equalizing fairly well, at least my right ear was :duh ...

Can't hear a thing since then, except a constant ringing (tinitus) and went to my friend Ear, Mouth, nose specialist.. no tympanic rupture, no liquid, she prescribed Sudafed, nasal spray,(hidrocortisone) and lots of liquids... she thinks it my be the eustachian tube is closed by some inflamation or mucus...

Went to take a hearing test... they say, neurosensorial hipoaccutia due to barotrauma... irreversible....

I has been 7 days now and I am begining to hear something...

 Has anyone had a similar experience... ???

Thanks for your comments... eric

Ebusso,

I was freediving this summer and apparently got an ear infection on one side. Mild tinitus started and has not gone away since then. I had a hearing test done and the results were the same as six years ago.

Ebusso , hope by now your hearing has returned, I too have experienced the same thing in the past. in my case i apparently forced a throat infection into the euastaction tube it was annoying but everthing came right after about a week.

good luck

Hearing OK

Yeah, Paul, my hearing is almost normal. After a couple of weeks it slowly came back. I tried a very slow inmersion with SCUBA gear to see if it helped. Well, I was able to equalize normally but there was no miracle cure. I still don't have normal hearing in my left ear plus I have the constant tinitus....

Oh well, life goes on... ;)

thats no good ebusso , i too have tinnitus but from going to too many concerts and not wearing earplugs, now i always take them with me if i think its going to get loud!!, I know that my tinnitus gets worse if i'm tired or stressed or generally run down it acts as a kind of health indicator (one i'd rather be without) you do get used to it tho, just kinda annoying so take it easy.
I am also really careful about blockages if I cant clear easily I never force it as I dont want to burst an eardrum or risk making things worse (sure you know this already)

just saw your monster 38lb snapper on the hunting thread !!!!!!
congrats!!!!

cheers:)
