Heart rate monitor

I am looking to get a heart rate monitor, but I am undecided. any recomendations which one will hold up for 80ft dives? I will mostly use it while spearfishing....

Also pay attention to the lower limit on bpm.
Many monitors will do 40 or 30 bpm as min, as they are often designed to work at the other end of range.

I've used my dad's computer the uwatec Galileo sol. it works super, but then there's price, and some people do not like the size of it.

The cheapest Polar works fine to 30 m+ Sampling period is pretty long, so it doesn't show very well a short period of very low heart rate. I've seen mine show in the low 40s, but am pretty sure my heart rate was well below that.

I did a test in a German lake with a prototype Galileo dive computer with integrated HR monitor. Dove to -40m in CWT, dive lasting about 1'45", where a HR of 34 BPM was registered. The computer manufacturer developed this heart-rate feature to monitor diver workload, and overall condition as to adapt the decompression formula to fit the individual dive better. When a diver works hard at depth, more nitrogen is absorbed, needing more decompression time to wash and breath out.

I used a cheap HR monitor, and it worked a while up to ~25m, but after a few sessions, and some button pushing at depth it drowned.

Using it for spear-fishing?
How would it help?

my purpose for using one would be similar to what a freediver might want, information.
Also there is a find line between exxcitement and elevated BP

I think there is more important information you need when spearfishing such as surface time and previous dive time depth ect.
you should be more concerned with giving yourself a proper breathup and not short changing yourself on the surface this will help your diving no end
