Just Signed up been a long time surfer, casual snorkeler and just had second spearfishing session with good mate from down the coast, will be looking for reviews on a decent beginners gun and seeing if there is a local club.

Welcome Mark,

Where are you based?
Hi I now live on the gold coast (Australia) but when I do get the time mainly dive over the border Tweed to Byron area, am keeping an eye open for a possible second hand gun, have read many quotes on the gun being the one item that not worth scrimping on and read some bad reviews on few cheaper models, so if I don't find anything used will be saving pennies for either a Rob Allen or a Riffe, have used my friends Rob Allen and it seems a very sturdy reliable gun also heard lots of good about Riffe so will go look at a couple when have saved up.
Will be diving in the 5-10 metre range at deepest, mainly around rock/reef and some sand so no need for blue water set up not after something with a reel.

G'day Mate.
Nice part of the world you live in for spearo's & surfers. I guess you'd riding a mal these days?

There is a club at Tweed & they are bloody good spearo's, but not up themselves either, some real good blokes once you break the ice.

Without checking I can't recall if they are affiliated with the AUF or the USFA but a search engine using these acronyms will soon give you a contact for the club either way. Stick with the blokes your own age or older for the first wee bit if you can till you find your own niche & you won't go far wrong.

All the best!
Sharkey
