Just wanted to say hello. Now, you might be asking yourself, wtf is someone who's about as far from an ocean as you can get, doing here.

Well, I came across the site looking for information on a hawaiian sling to see if it was feasable to replace my bow (shore bowfishing) for the spring run this year.

So as I started poking around, I thought that maybe it'd be fun to try spearfishing out on the river from underwater, and figured I'd best ask questions before doing something stupid, instead of my usual MO of the reverse.

Ya might see me, ya might not, but I'll be around =)

Welcome SM. You can get a hawaiian sling from the DB store or a cheap pole spear from ebay. Many good "spearos" use them to capture a lot of fish. You will need to learn how to approach the fish without scaring them away. Slow motion is the key. Good luck.

Welcome to DB, SuperMidget :)
Curious to see what You'll be up to.
I don't even know if there are any river-spearos around here..
Anyone?

Welcome to DB mate. I wonder Sanso do you think river mite fall under saltfree? If so then theres quite alot if Im not mistaken :)

Well, river as in not-a-lake, I mean. Or a lake with a strong current going in only one direction. :)
