Hi everyone,
My name is John and I’m a SCUBA diving instructor based in Athens, Greece. I run a dive center called DIVENESS, where we focus on introducing people to the underwater world in a relaxed and safe way.
I’ve been diving for many years now, and like many of you here, what started as curiosity quickly turned into a passion that completely changed how I see the sea. Living in Greece means being surrounded by incredible coastline, and the waters of the Athenian Riviera offer some surprisingly beautiful dive sites that many people don’t expect when they think of Athens.
Most of my work involves teaching beginners and guiding first-time divers through their first underwater experience. It’s always fascinating to see the moment when someone takes their first breath underwater and realizes they’re actually diving. That moment never gets old.
I joined DeeperBlue mainly to connect with other divers from around the world, exchange experiences, and learn from the community. I’m particularly interested in hearing about how diving communities differ between countries, how people got into diving in the first place, and what keeps them passionate about it over time.
For those who have dived in the Mediterranean, I’d also love to hear your impressions. And if anyone has ever considered diving in Greece or the Athens area, feel free to ask anything — I’m always happy to share local insights.
