Hello all.

Great to be part of this forum, so nice to meet you all.

I'm Brighton-based and looking to get as much time in the water as possible this year.

I also spend a far bit of time in Cornwall (usually around Newquay).

I'm sure I'll probably bob up to some of you at some point so say 'Hello'.

I believe there are at least 2 Spearfishing clubs near you . Also checkout YouTuber Dan Mann, who sometimes spears Brighton, etc.

Newquay is more of a surf resort but I expect there is good spearfishing there, when conditions permit. . As a crude rule of thumb, I tend to think of the north Cornish coast for surfing and climbing and the south coast for Spearfishing and kayaking - although it is quite possible to do all those activities on both coasts. E.g. Sennen is quite good for Spearfishing & surfing ... & climbing & kayaking

Appreciate that.

Popped a couple of bass yesterday and the viz was amazing off the pier.

Bumped into another spear (‘Gary’) who had a windsock-sized Cuttlefish.

A few small Plaice and flounder milling about, but not worth keeping and plenty of ‘takeable’ spider crabs but I forgot my catch bag .

Looks windier today, so will go and see if it’s offshore enough to keep conditions favourable.

There are a few good spots off Newquay…if it’s humping hard on Fistral, pop over the peninsula past little Fistral and there’s usually some good viz and depth the other side of Towan Point.

I am not a spearfisherman yet, haven't learnt it. I am mainly a swimmer and a freediver.
