Hello All,

I am looking for friends in Japan to dive with just for the view or to spear fish. Also, I am going to India next month for a short trip and would like to receive any advice about freediving there. I would love to meet other freedivers.

I live in Niigata, Japan, which is too cold for most people to enjoy the sea at this time of winter, but if you have a chance to visit, I am also up for guests.

Take care,

Greg

Hello,

I see that you are in Sharjah. A long time ago, I worked in Abu Dhabi and dived and snorkled in parts of Oman, including Snoopy Island. I loved the sea in that part of the world.

I lived in central japan for a few years and started diving while there. I really enjoyed it.

I never heard from any english speaking divers from northern japan, but there are few in central/west honshu and okinawa. i snorkelled around the kii peninsula a few times and saw a nice mix of fish as the warm and cold water currents of the pacific meet there. I never had the luck to see it but sometimes there are some upwell currents that bring some really neat creatures from the deep up into the shallow water; nice result about being next to the big subduction zones on the ring of fire.

G`day from Tottori, on the San-in coast. very cold here must bloody cold up there.
I`d love to get up there but the wife is not big on letting me off my chain.
I get out from around april through to Dec. sometimes get a nice fish.
nice to meet ya. Aaron came up once before he left japan, he let a very nice sized flat fish go (hirami)
that was nice of you mate. sorry to bring that up again....

I doubt I will forget that fish. There was a sale on spearguns here, so I bought a gun. I can't wait for things to warm up so I can hunt some mulet and kurodai here(daurade in french)
