The most experience I have freediving is doing a static hold for 3 minutes at the bottom of a pool and diving ~30 feet down and going back up immediately. I really enjoy the feeling of being underwater for prolonged periods of time. None of my immediate friends are into diving, maybe I can find a buddy here. I hope to maybe get into spearfishing if i get good enough at freediving.

3 minutes is a very respectable number. You may want to consider taking a freediving class, which will give you invaluable techniques and safety procedures.
