micronesia is four states that came together not without reservations back when there was a flurry of independence giving and receiving in the trust territories. (once the marshalls, marianas, palau and what is now the federated states of micronesia (kosrae, pohnpei, chuuk and yap) were all lumped together and called the trust teritories.)
chuuk, where i am, is the most populated, poorest, corrupt and many would saw teeters on the brink of lawlessness. it is known to most in the diving community for its wrecks, the largest resting place of battleships anywhere in the world. (remnants of operation hailstorm against the japanese during ww2. this was the second largest shipyard in the pacific next to pearl harbor.) not much regulation or conservation going on. the lagoon was pretty much dead for a long time after the devastation but has since come back to life. the waters of micronesia are reputed to be where 30% of the world's tuna comes from.
what is recommended float setup-wise for scuba up to 130'? and what are people doing about sharks?

about spear shafts and tips: there seem to be two thread specifications, 6mm and x/24. if i get a 9/32 shaft, and it has 6mm threads, even though the tip i want to use has 6mm threads, i still need to make sure that its diameter is 9/32, right? i'm not seeing that kind of spec. on tips though. they usually only specify thread type. what is the "default" diameter of a tip?
i'll be using riffe shafts with biller tips. is it possible to have different shaft diameters (9/32, 5/16. 3/8) and use the same tip (with some kind of adapter?) on all three?
