I'm new to spearfishing, have been training for approximately 6 months now and have been a frequent visitor of this forum for the same time. Would love to take a freediving course but haven't found one in my area and tight schedule makes it hard to travel out of PR for a few days and take a proper course elsewhere. I would greatly appreciate if anyone knows of any courses offered in Puerto Rico.
I also wanted to ask the community: Yesterday I went for a huge jack that just appeared out of the blue with my Salvimar V-Pro 115cm with 300lb mono and dyneema on the reel. I missed its head by just a few inches and before i could loosen up my reel, the jack snapped my mono in a matter of seconds and took my spear's shaft with it. I haven't been able to find my speargun's shaft specs online.
Does anyone know what is the proper length for a replacement shaft for my Salvimar V-Pro 115cm?
What line should I use to avoid losing the shaft on fish like this (the mono was properly crimped and in good condition only used on 2 previous dives)? Thank you all!

Welcome to Deeperblue! I recommend checking out the Spearfishing area and its associated subforums. You can find it by scrolling down the main forum page. Can't miss it.
